Starlit Journal Privacy Policy

Overview

Starlit Journal is a local-first iOS diary app. The current version is designed for private writing on your own device and does not use a Made by Choc account, cloud sync, analytics, advertising identifiers, or server-side diary storage.

This policy is based on common mobile app privacy policy structures, including notices about what data is handled, why it is handled, whether third parties receive it, how users control it, and how policy changes are published.

Data Stored On Your Device

The current version stores diary-related data locally on your device. This can include:

• diary entries, dates, moods, favorites, and search content;
• future letters and star bottle activity;
• attachments, tables, exported Markdown or PDF files, and JSON backup files you create;
• theme choices, profile details entered inside the app, and diary lock settings.

Made by Choc does not receive this diary content through the app in the current version.

No Account, Analytics, Or Server Upload

The current version does not include a Made by Choc account system. It does not upload diary entries, attachments, future letters, backup files, or usage analytics to Made by Choc servers.

If you contact Made by Choc by email, we will receive the information you choose to send in that message, such as your email address and the content of your request.

No iCloud Sync In The Current Version

The latest version of Starlit Journal does not connect to iCloud for diary sync. Your diary data is stored on the device where the app is installed.

If iCloud sync is introduced in a future version, this policy will be updated before that feature is released.

No Notifications In The Current Version

The latest version does not provide push notifications or local reminder notifications. The app does not register for push notification delivery in the current version.

Face ID And Device Passcode

If you enable the diary lock, authentication is handled by iOS on your device. Starlit Journal does not receive, collect, or store Face ID biometric data. The app only receives the authentication result provided by iOS.

Export, Backup, And Sharing

When you create Markdown exports, PDF exports, share cards, or JSON backups, those files are generated at your request. Their privacy depends on where you save, send, or share them after export.

You are responsible for keeping exported files and backups in a safe location.

Children

Starlit Journal is not directed to children under 13. The current version does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Retention And Deletion

Because diary data is stored locally, it remains on your device until you delete entries, delete exported files, remove backups, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app may remove locally stored app data according to iOS behavior.

Third-Party Services

The current version does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, account providers, push notification providers, or cloud database providers for diary data.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. When we publish a new version, this page will show the current effective date and keep historical versions available through the version history.
